Orvieto Morning

Orvieto is a small city perched on a rock cliff in Umbria, Italy. The city is built on a hill platform sitting on top of an ancient Etruscan city. Every morning a dense fog would cover the valley below. As the sun would rise higher in the sky the fog would ‘burn off’ revealing the stunning beauty of the surrounding Umbria landscape with its picturesque ceramic tile roofed homes and neat rows of olive groves. This particular morning the clouds revealed one of the many monasteries built on the hill top. A ‘just have to preserve this beautiful moment/scene’ in my time teaching there.
